Smart Communications and 8947
Have anyone noticed the 8947 of Smart?. I am receiving at least 3 messages from this number a day that I noticed receiving weeks back. I don't mind receiving as long as it's FREE!. But the thing is my paid load or airtime amount is being deducted PhP2 per received text message and I can't do anything to stop it promptly!!!!. This is like robbing or stealing something from you. I feel, no I am sure my rights as a consumer is totally being violated, I am paying for something I don't want, need or authorized.
Here is the text coming from 8947 that deducts PhP2.00 per text message received:

ReplyDeleteI made a formal complaint at NTC. But be wary of NTC representatives that may prod or entice you to communicate with phone company representatives. Kasi para sa akin parang ninakawan ka na tapos pag dating mo sa polisya may helpdesk ang mga magnanakaw sa istasyon ng pulis. The institution that is our protector is infiltrated by the providers we are complaining!!!!!.

ReplyDeleteAgain, Go to NTC. It's the most citizen-wise way to do -- my suggestion only. You see, the govt is not that active addressing online complaints especially "regalo" riddled govt departments. I wasted my time going to NTC before just to learn that the complain I made is an individual matter and not in any way will push NTC to obligate Smart Communication to stop stealing money from us. ReplyDeletei have this same problem.. nakakabwisit na.. pag may extra load ako dumating tapos magcheck op na ko.. badtripp... ninanakaw lng load natin ng smart...hanap ako ng hanap pano madeactivate wala nmn.. hndi ko nmn to inavail bgla nlng sumulpot..mdugas tlga ang smart..

ReplyDeleteWe have three mobile phone line providers namely smart, globe, sun. It's the duty of the people availing from said providers to complain to proper authorities. The more complains, the better chances of being heard!!!

ReplyDeleteGuys, please note that using your phone to request a STOP via 8947 number will not stop Smart Communication from stealing from us. They will just change this, repackage and start sending us again with unsolicited fees.
ReplyDeleteLike one politician's comment. If the people will not file a complain, then government cannot do it's part.
It's a waste of time to go to the NTC to complain and file a complain report. But think of this, we are already suffering from poor government services year round so it wont really hurt to waste an additional 3 hours or more to go there to file a complaint report.

Thanks for the info. I was able to stop it today. I just started rcvng txt msgs from 8947 when i activated my roaming srvc but i didnt know that they will continue to send txt msgs even after i deactivated it, so be wary also in using the other services.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a smart subscriber back then, I was always receiving text messages that deducts every message to my free smart e-load. They do this without any notices that's why I was prompted to switch to globe.
