As an IT worker

My work as a web and application developer is a very fast paced field of endeavor that needs dedication and continues study. I never thought that even though I do catching up I always get things done. I'm saying this because I am used to working in companies that employs me to do corporate related system development. It's always the business rules, making other departments more productive by providing them the computer technology to work with. It's enterprise development, more on business flow development. But now, being employed by an IT company is a totally different view of doing development work, I have to give more time in aesthetics. Now it's more detailed on a non-business rule related task and enhanced graphic user interface (GUI) that something I had not much time thinking of from my past employers. Don't get me wrong, actually I'm getting two different priority approaches in development -- what can I ask for. It's good for me and surely very beneficial for my future clients to be -- let's admit it, we need that extra to live a respectable life.

Cheers!...

My Taxes!!!

I am an employee who pays my taxes for:

The fertilizer scam
The manila-Cavite Macapagal highway project
ZTE Project
The national railways project
(DepEd TV education program)
Moscow scandal by the treasurer of the PNP

Let's admit it we are a country of a rich beneficial govenment projects and activities. It really makes me cry -- really it does. Where on earth can you find a government with good intentions inspite of it's misleading and very bad image.

So whenever I get my payslip and look at my taxes, I just smile and thank god I work my keep.

Morale

I believe that morale is a driving force to stability and growth in any corporate environment. So It's a good corporate policy to shield employees to issues that can hurt morale in any forms or level. But then again, how far will a company go to protect morale?. Is this protection good all the time?. Is their a difference between corporate morale and employee morale?. Does it goes that a good corporate
morale a good employee morale?.

To many questions, to many corporate policies all different with every company. Come to think of it, the policy for corporate morale is sometimes a blinding policy to a true employee morale. But then again, it's the company who pays the bills, who pays the salaries, who absorbs the punches of the business wars. And yes, it's a war! and the weapons of mass desctructions are products and services but the loosing end are the employees who cannot cope up with the challenges -- if an employee cannot make sense of corporate issues, you might have issues of employee morale on your plate.

Oh well, were doomed for sure

With the ever oil price hike, here goes our good government saving the day – saving the day from their own mismanagement!!!. Everyday is a learning experience and I don’t know why our government thinkers always think short term and plans to stay in government long term. As an example, I heard the other day from (DENR) Angelo Reyes that 2 months worth of oil reserve is enough for any oil fluctuation. For a guy who looks up to the almighty “US” of “A” – short term planning, long term subservience is his forte, opposite how the US of A does her business. Man!, this guy is better suited for military service and not play around with our future. Even the Americans, with all her economic imperialist status see’s the importance of continuous stocking of oil reserves.

And that’s not just it, Mr. Reyes is relying on commitments from our neighbor ASEAN nations to supply the Philippines with oil in case of future exorbitant price hikes. Why is the Philippine government ever trusting with foreign entities and distrustful of her own constituents. The Filipino people are talking, the government only needs to listen, perform, and cooperate for nation building. Hopefully we will all learn from each other.

Oil is very important and finite, short term planning with our source of energy spells out our economic future and well being. TO ALL THE ECONOMIC PLANNERS OF OUR BELOVED PHILIPPINES, Make no mistake, we are not paying taxes for your kids well being. We are paying taxes for our children’s future. We don’t owe you anything, you are our servants. It’s a job you guys have to perform and perform it well! - Don’t want to be a servant, don’t get elected in public office.

Office worker

Have you worked with a co-employee who acts as if he/she is always on a competing mode even during simple conversations on and off work. And I mean competing in all aspect, suggesting something just to be seen as a better worker than others, suggesting just to stand out, or just being opinionated in everything to make others feel inferior and defensive?.

Have you worked with a co-employee who comments and suggests on other peoples work at his/her desire and not at a proper forum?.

Have you worked with a co-employee who believes he is the deliverance?, who believes that if he/she had not seen therefore others had not seen. Who thinks that his/her ideas are next to none.

If not, lucky you!. But then again if all is done through innocence or without malice, then you’re missing on something.

On the way to the office...

I overheard two people beside me in the train talking about their need of a reliable manager to handle their department. Actually I overheared a bunch of stuff that make me think about how it is being a leader or being a manager. I was thinking about being a leader as opposed to being a manager. Is it saFe to say that managers are people who decide based on what is presented while a leader is someone who can visualize without seeing. Is it all about solutions, are leaders and managers without solutions becomes useless icons in society or any form of organization?.

But then again, how can you lead without management skills the same way how can you manage without leadership qualities.

SONA! - Doping the Filipino people

Now here's a clear sign of a "State Of Denial". Our beloved president at her best of her worst. I won't get into this for now. No-no-no, I think we already know whats next. But instead, let me think aloud.

"What is happening here?. Are we so lame, naive, or just plain complaisant to see change, to see that we are just running in circles. If our leaders don't have the conviction to do what is just for us why not let their sons and daughters show them the light. If we can't get through the thick skins of our leaders we should make them realize that we as the same with them have children to protect and feed, to shelter and love. If we could make their children's future be the same with our children's future then maybe, then maybe those leaders of ours will be awakened and see what we see."

But then again, this is just a thought...

Gossip or News

Is it me or is it just me!. Are the two big Philippines TV networks making gossip the main news on their daily news event show. The other 3 TV networks are just a government controlled networks so they don't count. The only consolation with these two big networks are their special features or TV shows on informative journalism, tackling what really are relevant and informative. Why do I say these things?, well take a look at the daily news event shows of these two big networks in the afternoon and evening. News are mostly stabbing, burned houses or establishments, known individuals in scandalous situations, stolen vehicles, even movie gossips gets more airtime per topic. Does it not we watch daily news casting for relevant news and information that may affect the populace as a whole and not lives of individuals being the center of the news. Yes their are parts for knowing individual lives but it has it's own venue like gossip shows. Putting gossip shows and individual life stories in scandalous situation must only be major news stories on news event shows if it has relevance to the populace lives and future self well being. News event shows must provide news based on substance -- what cost it ,effects to people, analysis of situation, who or what will provide the solution, what or how was it before, current situation, and/or future situation after a given solution. Basically the last part will just be a hyphotetical future. Where are the statistics or figures for the relevant news -- before, today, and possible tomorrow. If Filipinos prefer gossip than real and relevant news then the problem of the Filipinos are already knocking at the administration's doorstep.

I also noticed that one government controlled channel is trying hard then the other two to give a good image to the current administration. But the guests that this channel gets are goons-like appearance that embodies the look and feel of a corrupt official talking like an allegator.

Oh!. This I cannot let pass by, Take a look at channel 25 (local). They center
their news format on relevant news and science information with less or no gossip news of individual lives and movie personalities. And also channel 5 & 9, I've noticed their news format is becoming more and more innovative.

Going Self-Employed

Can't find a job for quit some time now. Wait a minute!, with my IT experience of more than 10 years is already an asset to start my own business. Basically that is what I'm doing now but I think It's the wrong time. I'm in a dilemma, making my own business work while the government who I am suppose to rely on for resource support is in much shit then I am. THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT THEY NEED TO PRIORITIZE AND DO. Anyway it's a way of life here in the Philippines, want to make it big, don't rely on the government as a rule of thumb. And with the food crisis happening now, the current administration is still in denial. We are doomed, doomed, doomed......
