This is as expected. The Philippine government is all talk and wants other nation to fight for them. The scenario is sit on their asses then when the time comes, the government has no other recourse but to offer a detrimental deal to whoever will help like say the US of A at the expense of a lifetime misery to the Filipino people, additional centuries of misery to say the least.
This is no problem because like World War II, the Americans will come back to liberate the Philippines. But unlike World War II wherein the Philippine was under the Commonwealth control, the now military and government leaders will just go to the US while the Philippines is in turmoil. Then these leaders will come back to the Philippines when all is safe and ask to vote for them because they are the future of the Filipino people.
What I don't really understand is why the Philippine government permits the entry of nuclear capable ships and/or nuclear carrying US ships while not being able to develop their country's own nuclear technology capability -- questionable part of the constitution and it's law enforcers. The Philippine government is managing the South China Sea situation as if they are dealing with their own people; low self esteem, forgiving, short memory span, corruptible, and most probably all ingredients of a manipulable race.
I dont think the Filipino people fully understand the true value of the mineral reserves in and around the Philippines!. Not including the threat that it possess if the Philippines can harness and utilize all of these reserves or whoever country will be in control.
China is just doing what needs to be done to secure it's own country. The questions is, will the Philippines do what's needed to be done to ensure it's citizens future and place?, and I'm not talking about the the government officials and politicians...
